Vivian Earlene Corzine Boyd , 88, of Anna, died at 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997 at Union County Hospital in Anna She was born on Dec.21, 1909 in Dongola, the daughter of James E. and Sarah Elnora Howell Corzine. She grew up in the rural Balcom Community, where she was an active member of Big Creek Baptist Church. As a youngster, she farmed with her family and assisted her father J. E. Corzine to dispatch fruit and vegetables via the railway from Balcom area to metropolitan area. She attended Balcom school and graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1928.She worked as a secretary at the high school and then as a secretary in Chicage. In 1932, she married Glenn E. Boyd near Anna and assisted him in fruit and vegetable farming. Mrs. Boyd was a full-time homemaker and ardent supporter of her family. She assisted their schools through PTA and booster clubs. She served as School teacher, 4-H leader and FHA mother. She belonged to Anna Junior Women's Club and was a member of Union County Homemakers Extension. Mrs. Boyd is survived by her son Collin and wife Alice Boyd of Anna, daughters Barbara and husband Norman Bauer of Anna and Jane and husband Al Gimbel of Jacksonville, Fla.Also by sisters Colleen Garrott, Anna and Betty Snyder and husband Wilbur of Spring Hill, Fla., and by sister-in-law Mary Corzine, Lecanto, Fla, Her surviving grandchildren are Louis Bauer, Chesterfield, Mo.; Tim Bauer, Chicago; David Bauer Hileman and Emily Boyd Beanland, Anna, and Jerry Boyd, Norfolk, Va. She leaves 11 great-grandchildren as well as four step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her, husband, her parents, an infant sister, a granddaughter Jeannie Boyd Jones, great-granddaughter Jauer, and her brother Kenneth and James Corzine. Funeral services for Vivian Corzine Boyd were held Dec. 27 at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Jim Hardway officiating. Interment was in Anna Cemetery. Austin Halterman 1909 2000, A-J 1928 Class, Saleman, Local Historian, Information furnished by A-J Classmate and Friends.

Austin Halterman, 91 of Anna, died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 2000, at City Care Center in Cobden. He was born on July 23, 1909, in Anna, son of Daniel and Maude Williams Halterman. He married Hazel Peeler on Nov. 2, 1936.She preceded him in death on March 15, 1992. He married Violet Kerley on April 27, 1995. He graduated from Anna High School in 1928 and from Southern Illinois University in 1933. He retired as a salesman for Continental Bakery with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Anna Lodge 520 AF& AM. He attended Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the 43rd Avenue Presbyterian Church of Gary, Ind. He was an avid gardener and local historian for Union County and Southern Illinois; He was responsible for the Location, cleanup and mapping in the 1970s of cemeteries in Union County. These maps are invaluable and will be referenced for many generations to come. He is survived by his wife Violet of Anna; one son, David Halterman and wife Kathy of Crown Point, Ind.; One daughter, Linda Krueger of Dale, Texas; one step-daughter, Sandy Boaz and husband Dwight of Anna; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Halterman of Fredricksburg, Va., Sarah Kathryn Halterman of Muncie, Ind., and Jeffery James Quasny of Casa Grande, Ariz.; two step-grandchildren, Mark Boaz of Anna and Amanda Boaz of McKenzie, Tenn.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Blanche Cline and Gladys Ray one brother, Vance Halterman; and son-in-law Glen Krueger who died Aug, 20, 2000.Funeral services for Austin Halterman were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 10 a.m. Aug, 29, at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Darnell officiating; Burial was in Camp Ground Cemetery. Masonic rites were at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug 20, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. Memorials can be made to Camp Ground Cemetery.
