Mrs. Bertha Alice Rinehart, daughter of Otis and Mary Fitzgerald Watkins, was born near Cobden on Aug. 4, 1910 and passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home in Anna. She attended Tygett School and was a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, graduating in the class of 1930. On Oct. 25, 1930, she was united in marriage to Marion Elsworth Williams in Murphysboro, IL. To this union one son, Robert E. Williams was born. Her husband preceded her in death on June 13, 1950. She continued with her son to operate the farm until his marriage, and then she attended VTI in Carbondale, later being employed at the Anna State Bank for several years. On Feb. 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Derriel J. Rinehart in Anna, IL. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1997. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father on Oct. 8, 1946; her mother on July 24, 1976; her son Robert E. Williams on August 30, 2000; a brother, Merle, who lost his life Dec 7, 1943 in World War II; a nephew Robert J. Watkins, Jr., who lost his life in VietNam on Oct. 8, 1969; sisters, Berniece Williams and Mary Mullane. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Williams of Anna; grandson James Robert (Kelly) Williams of St. Charles, Missouri; her brother Robert J. (Hazel) Watkins of Jacksonville, FL; 2 step daughters, Marcia Lacy of Conway, AR and Alice (Gerald) Spaulding of Louisville, KY; 3 step grandson, Jeff (Trish) Spaulding, Bill (Debbie) Lacy and Roger (Delaine) Lacy; several step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro and 10 am until the funeral hour on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 11 am on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Bridgeman and Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Interment will follow in Cobden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home. Crain Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bertha Rinehart was 101 years old when she passed away. She has been a truly great mother to Alice since she married Alice's father when Alice was a sophomore in high school.
