Roger Dale Henderson, 63, of Scott City, Mo., died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on April 15, 1948, in Anna, the son of Raymond and Jean Ivern Morris Henderson. He married Leann Marie Miller on April 27, 2002, in Makanda. Mr. Henderson was a supervisor and domestic and off-shore travel consultant for Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau and had worked as a supervisor for Newell Rubbermaid in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife; a son, Austin Carroll of Scott City; two daughters, Lachelle Carroll and Rhiannon Henderson of Scott City; and two brothers, Richard Henderson of Charlotte, N.C., and Bruce Henderson of Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. ANNA - Clifford E. Manus, 65, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born July 11, 1948, in Anna, the son of Lester E. and Juanita (Rhodes) Manus. Survivors include two daughters, Jessica (Cara Beauchamp) Manus of Dongola and Samantha (Matthew) Burlbaugh of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Charleigh Manus; grandson, Mylez Burlbaugh; sister, Linda (Deon) Egner of Carbondale; brother, Darrell (Cheryl) Manus of Jonesboro; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Clifford retired from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center after 36 years of service. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Darrell Manus officiating. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Larry Joe Rion, 60, of Lick Creek, died at 7:49 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2009, at his home. He was born November 24, 1948 in Anna the son of Gerald E. and Lou Etta Billingsley Rion. He was married to Gail M. Schlichting on December 19, 1976, in Anna. Larry is survived by his wife Gail Rion of Lick Creek; two children, Rob Rion and wife Vicky of Warrenville, IL and Rachel Rion of Carbondale; his mother, Lou Etta Rion of Lick Creek; a grandchild, Dylan Fuschi, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald E. Rion, his grandparents, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. He was a graduate of AJCHS class of 1966 and a graduate of Shawnee Community College class of 1973. He was an active leader of Boy Scout Troop #44 in Anna, was a Vigil Honor member, and Order of the Arrow. He was a retired systems operator for Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative in Marion. Funeral Services for Mr. Larry Joe Rion will be at 11:00 a.m.Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. ANNA - Dr. Michael Leon Treece, 61, formerly of Murphysboro, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, in the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. He was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Martin Leon and Opal (Dillow) Treece. Michael graduated from AJCHS class of 1966 and Illinois College in 1970 and Loyola Medical School, completing his residency in Internal Medicine in 1976. Upon completion of his residency he opened his medical practice in Southern Illinois and remained here through his 30 year career. His medical practices were located in Murphysboro and Carbondale; however, his thousands of patients came from all over Southern Illinois. His lifelong dedication to his patients and ensuring they receive the best medical care kept him busy around the clock but he always felt it was his responsibility to be there for those whom he cared for. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society and a staff physician at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for 30 years. He enjoyed collecting coins, art, photography, reading about world history, traveling and most importantly being the best dad he could possibly be. Michael was of the Baptist faith and on July 6, 1958, he made a profession of faith in Jesus. He was baptized on August 24, 1958 at the Columbus Baptist Temple in Columbus, Ohio. Michael dedicated his life to his two boys, Zachary and Jackson, and to his thousands of patients throughout Southern Illinois. Throughout his life he touched the hearts of his many patients and their families, but Michael always felt his two boys were his greatest accomplishments. His happiest times were spent with his sons, and being a proud dad at all their sporting events. Michael is survived by his two sons, Zachary Michael Treece and Jackson Thomas Treece, both of Carbondale; mother, Opal Treece of Anna; two sisters, Carol Otrich and Devra Treece, both of Anna; one niece, Christine (Ron) Gramann of Breese; one great nephew, Spencer Gramann of Breese; and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Leon Treece. Funeral services for Dr. Michael Leon Treece will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Tony Foeller officiating. Interment will be in Casper Cemetery, with military honors at the grave by Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the llinois National Guard Honor Team. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna activity fund. JONESBORO - Kathy York, 62, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, in St. Louis University Hospital. She was born Feb. 23, 1948, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Wilson) Tweedy Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Adams of Jonesboro; two sons, Richard (Jennifer) York of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Tim York of Fort Campbell, Ky. and presently serving in Afghanistan; four grandchildren, Kyel York, Emily York, Jada Hudson and Molly Adams; her father, Clarence (Ruby) Tweedy Jr. of Goreville; one sister, Cheryl Stamp of Jonesboro; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Tweedy. Funeral arrangements for Kathy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Randy Carstens and the Rev. Jonathan Whitley officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
