Steve Westbrooks, 57, of Anna, died at 2:00PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 17, 1953 in Anna the son of Francis and Louise (Treece) Westbrooks. He married Mary Ann Hubbs on November 16, 1973. She survives him. He was employed by Illinois Department of Public Health and previously by Illinois Environmental Protective Agency and Southern Seven Health Department. In April 2011 he received an award from IDPH for his leadership, devotion and exemplary service to rural public health. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served on Casper Cemetery board and for many years, coach of the Rattlers hockey team. He his survived by his wife, Mary Ann; 2 sons, Matthew Westbrooks and Jacob Westbrooks both of Anna; His parents, Francis and Louise Westbrooks of Anna; 2 brothers, Mike (Elaine) Westbrooks of Greenville, Illinois and Mark (Mara) Westbrooks of Park Hills, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Jayden, Jonah, Julian; Nieces and Nephews, Stephanie Mummert, Preston Gross, Shelby Westbrooks, Michael Westbrooks, Ashley Westbrooks and Elizabeth Westbrooks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugh and Barbara Treece and Francis and Cora Westbrooks. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:00AM. Family will receive friends just prior to the Mass. Inurnment will follow in Casper Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Steve's life will be on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2:00PM on the family farm.
